Quarantine Projects

Crochet

During the pandemic, like most people, I've picked up a few additional skills. My favorite one has been crochet. I specifically focus on amigurumi which are dolls and toys made with a needle and some yarn. They are quite time consuming, but also quite relaxing to create.

Sewing

After crochet, I turned to sewing into more traditional plush animals for my children and family, which has been incredibly rewarding.

"Victory" Garden

My other quarantine project is a garden, which I've attempted at starting a few times, but the travels inevitably killed anything I tried to grow. I've managed to successfully grow tomatoes, lettuce, arugula, bell peppers, oregano, basil, cilantro and eggplants from seed.

General Hobbies

Gadgets of all Kinds

As most techies, I have great fondeness towards gadgets. My current favorites is my 3d Printer and my drones. This particular picture was taken by duct taping a 360 camera to my phantom 3 and triggering a timer.

Art

As a father of 2, I've been rekindling my traditional art and animation education by drawing with them, usually with chalk on our driveway or with pencil and paper.

Cooking

As a Brazilian, grilling is something close to my heart and that I derive great pride and joy from. The secret is sprinkling some rock salt on the meat before grilling them. It also helps to have some traditional skewers at hand.

Photogrammetry

Photogrammetry as a means of conservation is a huge passion of mine. Whenever I can I try to capture as much as possible of the places I visit (specially museums) in order to try to generate 3d models. My 2 favorite hauls were from the Natural History Museum in NY and the Louvre in Paris.

Travel

Before 2020, I used to travel around once a month, between work and fun we were often on the move.

I feel that traveling is the best way to reset your mind and expand your perspective.
